Abstract:- Humans have evolved with their own genomes (first genome) and a much larger number of microbial genomes, collectively known as the microbiome or the second genome. To understand the significance and implications of the host and the microbial genomes, it is essential to know the sequences of these genomes first. Genomics has the power to unlock the secrets of the host and microbial genomes. Using the technologies of DNA reading (through Next-Generation Sequencing or NGS), a genomics start-up in Mumbai, miBiome Therapeutics is at the forefront of understanding the role of human and microbial genomes in health and disease.

First Genome: Results on clinical genomics and precision medicine workflows for diseases such as cancer and inherited rare genetic diseases will be presented. Applications of NGS in transplant genomics will also be presented.
Second Genome: The associations between nutrigenomics and the gut microbiome and our studies on vaginal, skin, oral microbiome will be presented.

Third Genome: miBiome’s development of a ‘Cost-effective’, ‘Make-in –India’ Targeted NGS (T-NGS) solution for Tuberculosis (TB) Drug resistance which is cheaper, faster and better, will be presented.

Interdisciplinary approaches using genomics and integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in computational analysis of genome and other health data will be presented.
